This month at
Bankwood care home in Derbyshire, which provides residential and nursing care, Residents have been enjoying a day of Valentine’s Day celebrations.
Bankwood celebrated Valentine’s Day in style this year, by decorating the home with a romantic theme and a range of different activities were enjoyed by the Residents. Colleagues in the home also all dressed in red for the occasion and put on a lovely dinner for Residents made up of steak, chips and a salad. There was also a softer option for different levels of IDDSI, and a wonderful 5 heart dessert, again with different levels for the varying diets.
After the dinner, Residents got involved in a raffle, aimed at raising money for their Resident Fund. There were three prizes, the first being a £20 voucher for a local pub, 2nd received a £10 voucher to use at the local fish and chips shop, and the final was a beautiful flower arrangement made by Lynne, the Wellbeing Coordinator.
Residents commented afterwards and expressed how much they enjoyed the day, with many pointing to the decorations around the home as being their favourite part. One Resident went on to say, “It was a lovely day, the home looks fantastic, and the dinner was sublime”. Others also mentioned how they would like to do more celebrations like this in the future.
Izeta, the Home Manager said, “What a wonderful day, everything looked really nice”.
