A day to remember at Sheffield care homeColleagues and Residents at HC One’s Ascot Lodge care home, paid their respects on Remembrance Day.

Colleagues at the Sheffield care home spent the last two weeks with the Residents, helping them to make their own poppies.

On Wednesday everyone sat around the TV and watched the memorial service, no one missed it as the Residents take this very seriously.

In the afternoon there was a remembrance tea party, with homemade buns and scones which the homes chef made especially for the occasion.

All the old songs form the war were played out, and all the Residents and staff were enjoying having a good old sing song.

At the end everyone arranged their poppy on the floor surrounding a poem which was read out, all the while with the White Cliffs of Dover playing in the background. Both Residents and staff became very emotional.

It was a wonderful afternoon and very poignant, with many a tear shed by both Residents and staff.
