Basildon Residents full of Christmas cheerOn Monday Ghyll Grove care home, in Essex, had a lovely visit from the local school, who came and sang some Christmas songs for the Residents.

All Residents on Chelmer House were over the moon as they sat by the window and enjoyed the singing from the children of Pioneer School as they sang outside. Residents had tea and biscuits and they were clapping and singing along to the children’s songs. After they had other refreshments including mince pies (a firm favourite).

Pupils sang some well-known songs which everybody knew and when they left, they said they would be back next year and wished everyone a ‘Merry Christmas’.

The Residents loved the children dancing and jumping around. One remarked, “It has brought out the Christmas cheer in me.”

Another said to the children, “Have a Merry Christmas, and be good as Santa is coming!”

The children didn’t want to leave; they wanted to sing more songs!

Also, today, Residents have been putting decorations up and eating (yes even more) mince pies! As well as drinking wine, sherry and soft drinks.

One Colleague explained, “The Residents loved helping to put the decorations up and they really enjoyed making the homemade decorations which are really good!”

“Residents have made a really good effort and there will be a competition at the end of the month, judged by the home manager, a prize will be given for the best house and best decorations.”

Manager, Nicola Rands, said, “Residents from all houses are very excited about the competition, they have clearly enjoyed making the decorations while listening to Christmas music. It is going to be very difficult to pick a winner.”
