Christmas Day at Newcastle care homeResident and Colleagues at HC-One’s Kirkwood Court care home in Kenton, Newcastle celebrated Christmas with a variety of activities, from carol singing to enjoying a small tipple.

Kirkwood may have celebrated a little differently this year but it didn’t dampen the Christmas spirit and everyone still had a great laugh. From staff getting dressed up, to the homes Christmas party, everyone pulled together to ensure Residents had the best day.

Although families were unable to come in to the home, carers helped Residents open their presents and share the Christmas spirit on Christmas day. During the afternoon, the home enjoyed some carol singing, as well as a fabulous lunch made by the homes wonderful Kitchen team.

The wellbeing coordinators dressed up as elves to deliver presents which helped but a smile on everyone’s faces. Residents really enjoyed the full day, from the carol singing in the afternoon and opening their presents, to enjoying a glass of sherry on the night.

“Although it’s sad I can’t be with my family this year I am so grateful for the incredible Christmas everyone here has managed to make for us all,” said Resident Jim Lamb.

Paul, a housekeeper at Kirkwood Court, Angela Douglass said: “it is wonderful seeing everyone having a good time and a well-deserved laugh after this tough year.”
