Cramlington care home Residents have a wellie good timeIt may be October, but Residents at HC-One’s Hartford Court in Cramlington have been making use of the last of the precious summer sun by planting some wellies in the homes garden.

Carol Birch, Hartford Court’s wellbeing coordinator came up with the idea of planting wellies to bring some character to the homes patio garden. Carol asked her Colleagues if they had any old wellies to donate and on 1st October, with the help of some eager Residents, the planting began.

A mixture of spring bulbs has been donated to the home, so Residents planted these in the donated wellington boots along with the help of Care Assistant, Tara Lowden. They all look forward to a rainbow of colour in the next few weeks, with Tulips, Crocus & Daffodils.

Hartford Court Resident, George Dorner said: “I was tickled at the idea of planting wellington boots, who would have thought you could grow anything in them.”

Home Manager of Hartford Court, Janice Bell said: “This has been an extremely difficult six month but the continued support from colleagues, family and friends has been overwhelming.”
