Egg-cellent additions to Morpeth care homeHC-One’s Foxton Court care home in Morpeth has welcomed some egg-traordinary new additions to the community this March.

Residents and team members were excited to work with Living Eggs to hatch their very ten eggs in Foxton Court, everyone was eager to observe the eggs in the incubator and were delighted when they managed to capture three of the eggs hatching.

All ten eggs hatched bringing four boys and six girl chicks into the world, Residents were surprised that the girls were not yellow, but more of a ginger colour with stripes. Getting to hold the chicks was a highlight for everyone at Foxton Court, for some Residents it was their first time holding a chick while for others it brought back happy memories of their younger days.

The chicks remained at Foxton Court for a couple of weeks where Residents and staff enjoyed caring for the chicks and watching them grow, they have since been given to a team member’s father who has an allotment where he cares for chickens.

The team are currently looking into getting a coop for the home’s communal garden so that they can have a couple of the hens back to Foxton Court as permanent Residents when they are old enough to stay outside.

Residents enjoyed taking lots of photographs with the chicks which they are planning to use to make personalised Easter cards for their families and friends.

Foxton Court Home Manager, Joanne Bulford said: “The chicks brought so much happiness and laughter to our home, seeing our Residents with them was truly heart-warming.”
