Emotional reunion for Leigh care homeThis week Westleigh Lodge care home in Manchester has opened back up after the lockdown for visitors to see their loved ones, after nearly six months of being unable to see their husbands, wives, mums and dads Wednesday was the first day of visiting.

The day was very emotional for everyone involved. The first visit was between a husband and wife, who just wanted to hold each other, but unable to because of the restrictions, but the smiles and winks didn't stop conversation. One Colleague remarked, “You could feel the bond between them”.

Families have explained their anticipation coming to see their loved ones after so long and worrying that Residents may not recognise them, but all the anticipation was lifted once they had reunited together.

One Relative said, "I can’t believe how well she looks, thank you so much to each and every one of you for looking after my mum she really does look well."

Adele Prescott, Deputy Home Manager, said, “It is just so nice to bring families back together after all this time. The day was emotional but happy and shared hope for the near future and a step closer to normality”.
