Grimsby care home turns into terrific truffle factoryResidents at Clarendon Hall, which offers residential and nursing care, said that Willy Wonka would have been proud of them today, as Residents created their own chocolate treats.

Hayley, wellbeing Colleague, organised the activity for Residents to create some delicious chocolate truffles. They started off with picking what sponge cake base to use; chocolate, almond or lemon. Residents then soaked their sponges in alcohol and condensed milk, which they mixed themselves until it was a truffle like consistency. Then on a paper plate, they rolled the mixture into eight balls, which they coated in dark or milk chocolate. Then they had the choice of a humongous 13 different toppings.

The afternoon was slightly messy, with lots of giggles and innuendos, but the Residents not only enjoyed making their treats, but enjoyed eating them too!

Mary, who lives at Clarendon Hall, created the most perfect truffles, with them looking uniform like they came from a high-class chocolate shop.

“I know they are chocolate, but the look like something else!” Resident Jean remarked, with a twinkle in her eye.

Hayley said, “Residents loved the fact that they could pick their own toppings and flavours to personalise their own treats in their own little trays.”
