Hyde care home enjoy Bonfire night celebrationsColleagues and Residents at HC One’s The Sycamores care home enjoyed their bonfire night celebrations.

In celebration of Bonfire Night, the Hyde care home enjoyed a day of fun; from decorating, to painting and relaxing!

Firstly Residents enjoyed an arts and crafts session of painting bonfires and fireworks. Whilst doing this everyone shared stories of past bonfire nights and how the Residents liked to celebrate this event.

Colleagues heard stories about all different snacks such as split peas and parkin, and how the majority would usually have corn beef hash or jacket potatoes as an evening meal.

The Residents enjoyed corn beef hash for their tea before settling down in the lounge for the evening, with a virtual firework display on the big screen. Whilst enjoying the display everyone indulged in ‘fancy hot chocolates’ with all the trimmings!

One Resident commented “this is a beautiful firework display.”

A hot chocolate trolley was taken round to all the units and bedrooms and drinks were served to the Residents.

Each resident chose their own toppings such as:
•    Whipped Cream
•    Chocolate Sprinkles
•    Marshmallows
•    Cinnamon Dust
•    Chocolate Dust
•    Syrup Sauce

The Residents loved their fancy hot chocolates for an early supper on a cold night. Everybody was comfy and cosy and enjoyed their drinks!
The home manager said “it’s amazing to see the Residents involved with these events, especially in the evening!”
