Keeping in touch at Newton care homeToday as a part of the ‘Keeping in Touch’ policy at Sycamores care home on Tameside, the Wellbeing Coordinator set up an activity that would please all Residents and their Relatives.

Renee Bell, Coordinator, decided that it would be a lovely idea to send loved ones a thoughtful card from each Resident along with some meaningful words and a photograph inside.

Using words and quotes from Residents themselves, to describe their feelings towards Autumn and missing their families, these words were put into a beautiful poem.

The following day Colleagues stuck our stamps on and posted the cards out to families and friends. See pictured the cards and poem along with an example picture of Resident Eric Jackson.

One Resident, known as KS, commented, “My daughter will be so pleased to hear from me.”

Another added, “That poem is touching.”

The residents were very happy and are looking forward to the responses.

Home Manager, Carol Potts, commented, “Very thoughtful for our Residents to be encouraged to talk about their families and extended their communication”
