Manchester care home Residents write to their lockdown pen palsOne’s Worsley Lodge care home in Worsley have been taking up letter-writing in lockdown to chat to their pen pals in another care home.

Residents and friends from nearby HC-One’s Rose Court have written wonderful letters to their fellow Residents at Worsley Lodge. The homes normally link up for a quiz but since lockdown began, they have been missing socialising with one another.

The Worsley Lodge Residents took great delight in reading their letters and decided that they would like to write back to them to get to know one another a little better and nurture this friendship. They wrote about their hobbies and what they have been up to lately.

One Resident commented: “It’s lovely to receive letters from friends. I’m looking forward to a reply.”

Residents were very happy to receive letters from friends they have made during past visits as well as new Residents they don’t yet know but who are in the same environment as them.

The letters from Worsley Lodge Residents have now been sent in the post and everyone is eagerly waiting their replies from their new pen pals.

Worsley Lodge Home Manager, Anne Bannon, said: “It’s nice to see Residents keeping in touch with others and making new friends.”
