Resident plants remembrance flowers at Manchester care homeA Resident at HC-One’s Worsley Lodge care home in Manchester planted some bulbs, that were kindly donated by a Relative, in the homes garden to remember those they had lost this year.

Sarah, a Resident at Worsley Lodge, loves being out in the garden keeping it clean and tidy. So, when the home was donated some lovely flower bulbs by a Relative, the wellbeing coordinator thought that she would get Sarah involved.

Sarah and Worsley Lodge wellbeing coordinator loved working as a team as they tidied up the memorial area of their garden before planting the new bulbs, whilst thinking of those they had lost.

“Planting the flowers felt really personal, I really enjoyed it,” said Worsley Lodge Resident, Sarah.

At the end of the afternoon, both Sarah and the wellbeing coordinator sat down to have a cup of tea and a chat as they looked proudly upon the work they had done.

Gardening helps keep elderly general health in a better state by strengthening bones, muscles and joints; it also helps the elderly with balance resulting in less falls; keeps blood pressure at bay and reduces heart risks, so it is really important that Resident engage in these activities.
