Springfield House care home Resident celebrates 103rd birthdayA very special Resident at HC-One’s Springfield House care home in Gateshead recently celebrated her 103rd birthday in style.

On 20th November gorgeous Annie celebrated her 103rd birthday and although it was a very different birthday to the one she had last year with all the family and friends in the home for lunch, Colleagues at the home certainly managed a full day of events to help her celebrate in this very peculiar time.

Presents, cards and parcels arrived all week to be quarantined for the big day and Annie even received a selection of cards from other HC-One care homes.

With giant balloons in place, Julie and Jack from the wellbeing team went to Annie’s room and helped her to open the cards and presents whilst skyping her daughter Jackie so she could be part of the present opening fun.

In the afternoon Annie enjoyed a Skype singer, arranged by Jill Wright, the homes Resident Liaison, to wish Annie a very happy birthday and then the day was rounded off by more skype calls from her great granddaughter, Eve and grandson Mark whilst she blew out the candles of her cake.

Springfield House Home Manager Kay Rudd said: “It is not the celebrations we had hoped for but the staff pulled together to make it a very special day for Annie.”
