Staffordshire care home Residents start Harvest FestivalToday Residents at Chaseview care home, in Burntwood, enjoyed preparing for and celebrating Harvest Festival.

Wellbeing team members Paige and Sam organised many activities, “We made vegetables and fruits with salt dough which was then baked and painted when solid by the Residents.”

“We also enjoying making our scarecrows, Alan and Polly, which were the names chosen by the Residents.”

Residents, including Jane, Beryl and Betty (pictured), enjoyed painting the salt dough vegetables they made and preparing the scarecrow display.

Everyone celebrated Harvest festival by singing hymns and sharing what Harvest Festival means to them.

The kitchen had then prepared a lovely carrot cake and some fruit flapjacks for desserts, which were lovely!

One of the Residents said, “What lovely food… [it is] nice to reminisce from when we used to get ready for the harvest with our parents.”

Home Manager, Jennifer Khadoo, commented, “All staff loved the display and seeing the vegetables being painted. Mainly though, we all enjoyed, seeing the Residents enjoy themselves.”
