A Resident is celebrating his incredible milestone birthday as he turns 100-years-old at HC-One’s Woodlands View care home in Hertfordshire.
Donovan Southee celebrated with his family and everyone else at his very special party.
Colleagues arranged a birthday buffet, complete with music and wine, for Donovan and the other Residents. Donovan’s family even joined in with the party via Zoom and watched and cheered as he opened his card from the Queen and plenty of other lovely gifts and cards.
Donovan said: “I am very proud of getting a card from the Queen!”
The party was a secret surprise and when Donovan entered the lounge expecting his usual lunch, Residents and Colleagues shocked Donovan by singing Happy Birthday and cheering.
Donovan was left speechless and was overwhelmed with all the effort that everyone had put into organising his buffet and inviting his family to join in with the festivities.
Despite his 100th birthday celebrations having to be toned down due to lockdown restrictions, Donovan loved his birthday party and was thrilled that everyone had joined in with his big day.
Woodlands View Home Manager, Deby O’Hare, commented: “We were so happy that we were able to get Donovan’s family to join in with his special celebration.”
