Wakefield care home RemembersResidents at HC-One’s Carr Gate in Wakefield recently commemorated Remembrance Day with an arts and crafts afternoon, creating a poppy display.

Colleagues and Residents joined in with poppy crafts and lots of war time quizzes. After, Colleagues held a small service and prayers to remember the fallen heroes. A lovely display of poppy buns was put up in the home and Residents gathered round as they observed a minute’s silence.

Poems were read out by every Resident who had written one. The poems paid homage to soldiers and some even reminisced about the times that they had spent during the war.

Remembrance Day is a Memorial Day observed in Commonwealth member states. Remembrance Day has been observed since the end of the First World War to remember armed forces members who have died in the line of duty
