Wigan Residents write endearing cards to loved onesResidents at HC-One’s Westwood Lodge in Wigan have been writing cards to their loved ones telling them just how much they are missing them through lockdown.

During the coronavirus pandemic, Colleagues at the home have tried their very best to maintain communication between Residents and Relatives through Zoom calls, telephone calls and window visits.

But keeping in touch at a distance just isn’t the same as a family visit and Residents are understandably missing their families dearly.

Colleagues decided it would be a great idea to let the Residents’ families know they are thinking of them and helped the Residents to write lovely cards.

Mavis Farrell, a Resident of Westwood Lodge, commented: “Thank you so much for doing this. You are always thinking of ways to cheer everyone up.”

Each card featured the message ‘Just a note to say I miss you’, and Residents wrote special notes inside for their friends and family alongside a smiling photo of themselves.

After Residents were content with their heart warming messages, Colleagues sent them off to be delivered the Residents’ families.

Home Resident, John Wilkinson, said: “Thank you so much for this. My wife Jan will love it!”

Making their special cards cheered up the Residents at the home as they talking about their favourite memories with their family and friends.

The cards and photos will be a lovely keepsake for the Relatives which they will be able to treasure forever.

Westwood Lodge Home Manager, Lorraine Young, commented: “It’s a lovely thought and I am sure it will cheer everyone up.”
