Residents at
St Peters Court, residential and residential dementia care home in Redcar, have had lots of fun throughout the month of April and the fun hasn’t stopped leading up to the end of the month.
On the 21st April, one of the lovely Residents, Edna, celebrated her 101st birthday with a trip out to the local park.
Getting some fresh air and seeing all the wildlife was something Edna was keen to do when celebrating such a milestone birthday. There were many squirrels, ducks, Canada geese, heron nests which homed some lovely baby herons. Edna, remarked, “I’m enjoying the fresh air, thank you for doing this for me on my birthday!”
Many of the plants were just coming into flower and the two ladies are keen to get back to the when they are in full bloom. It was a perfect afternoon for Edna and her friend Angela. Next time the ladies are going to bring along some food to feed the squirrels.
Later in the week, to participate in Intergenerational Week, Gracie and Alicia paid a visit to St Peters Court and get crafty.
The Residents decided to make paper mâché globes, decorated with union jacks ahead of the coronation. It was a fun task for the Residents who were involved. Their fingers were very sticky from all the glue, and they had fun peeling this off after the session.
Each of the Residents had a great time and love to welcome the younger generation into the home especially when they have lots of fun doing crafts and other activities.
Angela, one of the Residents involved in the session, said, “Thank you, Alicia and Gracie, for helping me with my globe!”
Jamie Stephenson, Care Home Manager, remarked, “We love to welcome everyone into our home so to see the girls and have them help for the day is fabulous. The Residents always love seeing young people.”
