Three Residents at
St Peters Court, residential and residential dementia care home in Redcar, had an amazing afternoon out visit the local museum.
An absolutely amazing afternoon was had by all at a magical mystery tour of Kirkleatham Museum.
Catherine, Nora and Pat who attended the trip enjoyed looking at all the exhibits, Pat was saying her father worked at British Steel, Kitty worked at Cargo fleet and used a clocking in and out machine and Nora had family who worked there too.
The ladies did a lot of reminiscing about the exhibits they saw and had lovely smiles on their faces throughout the visit.
Whilst Pat was reminiscing, she remarked, “What a lovely time I’ve had today it’s my first time at Kirkleatham Museum and I’ve loved it thank you so much for bringing me. It’s brought back lots of memories of the days my dad worked at the steel works. Thank you again.”
They also visited the knitted/crochet foods laid out as a feast. It was fantastic to see how crafty some people are and their amazing work.
A sing-along was had by all the Residents on the bus journey back to the care home, it was lovely to hear such beautiful voices.
Ron, the Bus Driver, commented, “It’s lovely to hear Residents’ memories and making new ones. We’ve had a fantastic time today with lots of smiles all round. I’m looking forward to next week to see you all again.”
Jamie Stephenson, Care Home Manager, added, “The ladies had huge smiles on their faces and were all chattering about the visit when they got back. It’s a joy to see. We love getting out into the community.”
