On 3rd May, a clothes party came to the 32-bed residential care home, where Residents were able to look through and purchase from a clothes shop which was set up, all from the comfort of the home.

The ladies were looking forward to browsing through the spring range of clothing, and the shop didn’t disappoint, with lovely summer tops and skirts to choose from.

Everyone was interacting with each other and giving advice on what suited who. They even took part in an informal a fashion show later in the afternoon. The atmosphere Was buzzing with chat and laughter.

Sade Smith, Wellbeing Coordinator, said, “Another lovely clothes party here at the Beeches, the ladies getting themselves ready for summer and the Coronation party. It’s so nice to see them shop and help each other choose clothes.”

Following on, 6th May was time for the celebration of King Charles’ Coronation.

The whole home enjoyed celebrating the Kings coronation, everyone was invited to the lower lounge that had been beautifully decorated with Union Jack bunting, like a street party.

The morning began with watching the ceremony on the television, everyone chatting away about what was happening, and the conversation turned to how a few of the ladies had lived through three monarchs, and how different each one was.

Mary commented, “I have lived through three monarchs. It’s been good to watch it on the television with everyone.”

The kitchen team served traditional afternoon tea for lunch, with assorted sandwiches, pork pies, and quiche, and to finish with it was Victoria sponge, carrot cake and biscuits.

The day was enjoyed by everyone, the home was buzzing with excitement, and it was a lovely experience with everyone.

On the Monday after the Coronation, a singalong took place at the Beeches from one of the home’s regular lovely singers, who sang songs from the 1940s and beyond.

Sade added, “It has been a great day, everyone together watching the King’s Coronation, to hear stories from some of our ladies who have lived through three monarchs is amazing. I have enjoyed spending the day with everyone, its meant so much.”
