A taste of Europe for Residents at Penrith care homeResidents at HC-One’s Cold Springs Park, residential, nursing, and dementia care home in Penrith are travelling around Europe from the comfort of their own home.

Over the next few months, Residents will be exploring the cultures and food of European countries.
For the first week the Residents decided on Italy as they are renowned for their delicious food, breath-taking surroundings, and famous artists.

To start off the week, Residents took part in a quiz to test everyone’s general knowledge of Italy and there were some fantastic answers. It was a great learning experience for both the Residents and staff.
Also in the week the Residents did an arts and crafts session where they all painted their favourite pizza, various beautiful landmarks in Italy and Italian flags.

One afternoon consisted of taste testing lots of Italian foods. There were so many Italian delights which included homemade pizza, Neapolitan biscuits, tiramisu and some Italian wine.

Everyone enjoyed the Italian week and felt like they had learned a lot about the culture and Italian lifestyle.
Jacqueline Johnstone, Care Home Manager, commented, “It was a lovely week and the Residents loved joining in with all the fantastic activities.”
