At 106, Eliza reveals ballroom dancing is the secret to a long lifeAt HC-One’s Dove Court care home, located in a peaceful residential area just outside Burnley, Resident Eliza celebrated her 106th birthday!

Eliza Wright was born on 23rd April 1917 in Burnley. She married Albert, and together they had two daughters Brenda (pictured) and Linda, and a son Kenneth.

Having always had a passion for dancing, Eliza worked as a Master of Ceremonies, setting up dances at what was called Bacup Leisure Centre. She loved to dance and was dancing up to 98yrs old. So this is no surprised when Colleagues asked about what her secret is to a long life, she said “Ballroom dancing.”

In her spare time, Eliza enjoys seeing Sandersons Dance Students perform various dances at Dove Court, and she also likes having her nails painted and chatting to fellow Residents and Colleagues.

For her 106th birthday celebrations, Eliza celebrated her birthday with family, friends at the home and Colleagues at the120-beds residential, nursing and dementia care home.

Steph Tillotson, Wellbeing Coordinator, commented, “Eliza had a wonderful day celebrating her 106th birthday! We made it special for her at Dove Court.”
