Blue Light Breakfast at Newton Aycliffe care homeHC-One’s St Clare’s Court, residential and residential dementia care home in Newton Aycliffe, are hosting a ‘Blue Light Breakfast’ for those who are working for the emergency services, NHS, social care sector and armed forces.

The regular breakfasts have kicked off this Autumn and both the staff and Residents were excited to welcome everyone into their home.

A lovely breakfast was laid out, with a variety of different breakfast items and hot drinks. There were items for people to just grab and go and there was the option to sit and speak with the staff and Residents. The options were endless with baked goods, breakfast muffins, cereal and the option of a hot bacon or sausage sandwich.

The first visitors of the morning were the team of District Nurses. They enjoyed bacon sandwiches and said how nice it was to have a nice hot breakfast on the go!

The next set of visitors were the local fire brigade who paid a visit after returning from one of their calls. They chose to stay for while and have a little chat with some of the Residents, Care Manager Caitlin, Resident Liaison Officer Katie and Wellbeing Coordinator Joelle. The Residents really enjoyed having a chat with the staff from the fire brigade and said how lovely it was to welcome them into their home.

A successful first breakfast was had, and the visitors, staff and Residents are keen for the next breakfast.

Resident, Sheila Wright, said, “It was lovely that we are able to invite them into our home.”

Additionally, Resident, Cecil Ellsbury, commented, “It was a lovely gesture to thank them for all they do in our community.”

Home Manager, Sarah Todd, said, “This was a huge success, a small gesture to thank our emergency services for all they do, we are really looking forward to welcoming everyone back next month.”

The Blue Light Breakfasts going forward will take place on the 2nd Friday of each month between 8am –10am and St Clare’s Court are ready to welcome people into their lovely home.
