Celebrating successes at St Clares Court care homeResidents and Colleagues at St Clares Court care home, in Newton Aycliffe, have had lots to celebrate recently and threw a party for all to enjoy.

On the 2nd May, at the residential and residential dementia care home, a party was thrown to celebrate one year of positive change and the year anniversary of the appointment of new management.

Both Residents and their family members enjoyed a party hosted in the lounge. Everyone got together along with the fantastic entertainer, K Sweetheart, who got everyone singing and dancing. There were lots of cake, nibbles and drinks which were enjoyed by everyone. The whole afternoon was so special.

There were some lovely comments made on the day, some said, “The evidence is in our Residents. They are happier, healthier and they’re just thriving.”

One of the Residents, commented, “I am enjoying lots more new activities, there is always something going on.”

Sarah Todd, General Site Manager, added, “What an amazing way to celebrate a whole year of making a difference, Colleagues, Residents, and their families celebrated and looked back over the last 12 months and celebrated with a sing and a dance. I am extremely proud of the commitment from all of the team at St Clares Court.”

Additionally, there has been lots of celebrating during the Colleague meetings as many received ‘Kindness in Care’ awards and ‘Employee of the Month’ awards.

Something special happened this month as Ted, one of the lovely Residents was nominated by both Residents and Colleagues for everything he does.

Ted is a great help around the care home. He really enjoys gardening, decorating and making the home better for others. Teds nomination was given as he never stops helping and is a voice for all the Residents.

It was lovely for the Residents to get involved in nominating others for awards and Ted was overwhelmed with all the lovely comments. Ted received an award and new gardening equipment he couldn’t wait to try out.

Caitlin Hayes, Care Manager, said, “It is so nice to have the Residents involved in meeting and awarding others.”
