Celebrations and awards at Treharris care homeIt has been a month to remember at Trafalgar Park care home, in Nelson, Treharris, as not only did the home host a celebration afternoon tea party, but one very special Resident, and retired war veteran, was presented with a gift for his efforts over the years.

Dennis, who is a Resident at the 52-bed residential and residential dementia care, was chuffed when he was presented with a veteran pin badge on 28th September.

James, who is a Veteran Support Officer for Woody’s Lodge Charity, and Lisa, Regional Armed Forces Liaison Officer, visited Trafalgar park on the day of the presentation and James had arranged for Regimental Sergeant Major Mike Jones, from the Royal Welsh based at (Maindy Barracks in Cardiff) to come in uniform, chat to Dennis and present him with the badge, He also kindly brought some books about the history of the Royal Welsh for Dennis to read.

Dennis chatted to the group and talked about his posting in Germany, and landing on the beach in Normandy. He was very happy and said, “It was a wonderful afternoon!”

Home Manager Ellen Smith, added, “It was very emotional to see the sparkle in Dennis’ face.”

Even more exciting news has happened this week at Trafalgar Park, as the home hosted an afternoon tea party on 22nd September in recognition of an internal award received from Managing Director Geoff Edwards, at HC-One.

To celebrate, Colleagues organised for the delivery of an afternoon tea for Residents, coupled with live entertainment and a raffle for people to have a go at.

Everyone said the food was amazing and Residents were heard saying it was, “Such a lovely day.”

Ellen added, “It is lovely to see everyone enjoying and celebrating together.”
