National Day of Arts in Care Homes, which is organised by NAPA (National Activity Providers Association), has recently been celebrated by
Ailsa Craig care home, in Cessnock, Glasgow, with Colleagues arranging an arts and crafts day.
There were paints, colouring and all sorts of fun activities for everyone to get involved in. One of the Residents at the 90-bed nursing and nursing dementia care home decided to draw some of plants that are in his unit.
Other Residents who said they didn’t quite have the talent for drawing decided to do some colouring, which was fun! (See pictures)
After the arts session, the group, including William Bell, Sarah Todd, Margaret Beg, Mary Gouck and Violet Rooney, had a well-earned cup of tea and a slice or two of cake.
William said, “It’s quite relaxing.”
Margaret added, “They are beautiful pictures, lovely colours.”
Everyone particularly liked all the bright pens and the different shades. And the tea and cake at the end went down very well too!
Mary commented, “It took my back to when I worked with children at Barnardo's, they loved arts and crafts.”
Home manager, Lynsey Armstrong, said, “It’s great that our Residents can get involved with events through Napa. Lovely to see them showing off their pictures to others and indeed family members."
