Easter fun at St Peters Court care homeResidents at St Peters Court in Redcar have had lots of fun preparing and having fun over the Easter weekend.

Lots has been happening at the residential and residential dementia care home in preparation for the Easter weekend. Residents would usually create Easter bonnets but this year they wanted to be more regal and went for Easter crowns. As the Kings coronation is coming up, Residents thought it would be really fun to make Easter crowns. Tim, was the winner of the competition and his crown was fantastic. He was presented with a rabbit tin filled with lots of delicious chocolate treats.

Residents enjoyed a fantastic visit from Kirkleatham Birds. Craig from Kirkleatham Birds brought in a barn owl called Elmo, python called Alien (due to his alien markings), hedgehog called Hotdog, tarantula called Violet and a tenrec called Fred.

Everyone was very brave with most of the Residents all wanting to see and feel the animals.  One of our courageous Care Assistants, Jo, bravely asked if she could hold the tarantula and the snake as she wanted to face her fears, afterwards she said her children wouldn’t believe she had managed it. The Residents asked lots of questions and Craig was more than happy to answer giving lots of information.

Then a lovely morning was spent listening to the local primary school, sing Easter songs. 28 children came along with their teachers, Head Teacher, and Sheila one of the school governors. Everyone enjoyed singing and clapping along and watching the children flap their wings like ducks.  Everyone had such a gorgeous morning, and the Residents are already looking forward to the children coming again with their summer songs.

One of the Residents, said, “We all loved welcoming in the school children into the home. The singing was outstanding.”

Good Friday was also filled with lots of fantastic music as local harpist came along to St Peters Court for a very special performance. Everyone was enthralled by the music and enjoyed every minute. Many of the tunes Sarah played were well known by everyone which made a fantastic sing along.

Jamie Stephenson, Care Home Manager, remarked, “Everyone has had so much fun over the Easter weekend. Thank you to everyone for making it very fun and special.”
