It has been a week of entertainment for Residents at
Chandlers Ford care home, in Eastleigh, Hampshire, as Residents have enjoyed balloon making and a visit from the local school.
On 30th November, Residents were entertained by a balloon sculptor who crafted unique balloon shapes for each Resident to keep, and the designs were fabulous! From an octopus to a monkey in a tree, a baby and some flowers, it was astonishing what could be made with just a few balloons.
Agnes, Sylvia, Ken, Mabel, Ann and Margaret, who are all Residents at the 41-bed residential and nursing care home, thoroughly enjoyed the balloon sculptures and posed for pictures with them (see photo).
Siobhan, Wellbeing Coordinator, said, “The Residents and their families found it entertaining and unusual.”
Following on, on 1st December to mark the start of the festivities, Residents were visited by the year 3 and year 4 pupils from the local St Swithun-Wells Catholic Primary School.
As part of their recent studies around dignity in the community, the children from the school had practised Christmas carols for weeks, and they put on a small show for the Residents, singing ‘Silent Night’ and ‘The First Noel’ beautifully.
The Residents remarked on how lovely the children’s voices were and that they did so well without an accompaniment.
The pupils had also worked hard handmaking cards, then the members of the school council presented them to Residents, everyone was so pleased.
Lucy Hilferty, Care Home Manager, remarked, “We are so privileged that the children from St Swithun-Wells Catholic Primary school shared their time and energy to sing such lovely carols.”
