Hamilton care team shortlisted for Specialist Service of the Year Award at the Scottish Care Home Aw
The McLelland Unit’s care team at HC-One’s Douglas View care home in Hamilton, Lanarkshire, a 100-bed nursing and nursing dementia care home, has been shortlisted for The Specialist Service of the Year Award category at the Scottish Care Home Awards 2022.

The nomination for the award is in recognition of the team’s hard work and kind care shown to Residents, Relatives and Colleagues as well as the dedication and passion the team shows every day to ensure the people they support receive the best quality care.

The team were recognised for working extremely hard throughout the pandemic to help Residents who were in need of rehabilitation programmes. Over the last 12 months, the care team within the McLelland Unit have developed a new rehabilitation programme, which not only provides skills development, but promotes personalised positive risk taking to reengage and reskill Residents.

The team are always looking for new ways to develop their practice and programmes which best supports Residents. Residents and their families cannot speak highly enough of Colleagues and their ongoing support.

Mental Health Officer/Social Worker, Stacey Morgan, who nominated Douglas View care team for the award, said:

“The McLelland Unit’s care team continue to demonstrate excellence and innovation in their practice while keeping the Residents at the centre of their rehabilitation and support.”

Louise Fulton, Care Home Manager at the home said:

The Scottish Care Home Awards consist of 13 awards, which cover a wide range of areas of the social care sector. The award’s ceremony takes place at The Hilton Hotel, Glasgow on Friday 18th November 2022 when the winners will be announced. 

In total three HC-One Colleagues have been shortlisted for the Scottish Care Home Awards 2022.
