Harnham Croft Residents enjoy a trip out in the minibus to Mudeford QuayResidents Barbara, Eileen and Lynn from HC-One’s Harnham Croft care home, in Salisbury, Wiltshire, chose to go for a trip out to Mudeford Quay in the home’s minibus on 28th March, and although it was a blustery day, it sparked memories, great conversations and everyone indulged in a delicious meal.

Colleagues Jenna, Kevin and Wendy accompanied the Residents from the 38-bed residential and nursing care home to the café for lunch and they enjoyed some fish, chips and peas with a lovely cup of tea, sat in the glass window of the café watching the wind surfers out on the choppy sea.

Barbara said that she used to go to Mudeford with her children quite a lot when they were little and even when they grew up and had children on their own, it used to be a wonderful day out and it was always a pleasure seeing all the people along the quay, fishing for crabs especially in the summer.

The group finished off with a walk along the quay themselves, watching the seagulls and the starlings eating all the remains on the crab nets.

The Residents had a lovely day taking in in the sea air and Eileen said she will definitely sleep well that night.

When asked if she enjoyed the day, Lynn, said, “It has been a wonderful day to be able to visit the beach. Thank you to all the staff that made this happen for me. Even though it was a little bit cold and windy I thoroughly enjoyed being able to breath in the sea air and not to forget some chip shop fish and chip. Yum!”

Fellow Resident Barbara remarked, “I liked just generally being able to go out for the day, but the best bit was having fish and chips from the chip shop, that’s the only way I eat any sort of fish.”

Eileen said, “I used to go to Mudeford Quay years ago with my children, I haven’t been for a long time now and so much has changed. There are now houses and a caravan camp site which all used to be heath land.”

Kevin, Maintenance Operative, commented, “Considering the weather, cold and windy, it was an absolutely fantastic day out with the Residents, and it was a pleasure seeing the Residents enjoy themselves and reminiscing about the times they used to go to Mudeford with their families.”
