HC-One Scotland Celebrates Care Inspectorate ReportHC-One Scotland’s Hamewith Lodge care home in Aberdeen is celebrating their recent Care Inspectorate report which has rated them ‘Good’ in all areas.

The home, which is on the outskirts of Aberdeen, has been praised for its ‘lovely and welcoming atmosphere’, in the report which is based on an unannounced inspection from the social care regulator earlier this month.

The home received 4/6 (‘Good’) in all five evaluation areas, which assessed wellbeing support, leadership, staff team, setting and planning of care and support.

Inspectors also commented on the happiness and friendliness of staff at the home, noting that this had a positive impact on people’s welfare, as people formed positive relationships with Residents, including having ‘humorous’ and warm conversations.

Residents at the service and their relatives spoke with inspectors throughout the two-day visit to the home and gave positive feedback including ‘my dad really likes it there and says he enjoys the way staff engage with him, having a laugh’.

The home has been under new local management for the past six months, and in that time has worked to meet the areas of improvement identified at the last inspection.

Inspectors commented on the new management, noting that ‘the management team were working well together… all the suggestions we made throughout the inspection process were promptly addressed’.

A new hairdresser has recently joined the home team, and Residents and Relatives commented on the positive wellbeing effects and self-esteem boosts this has brought them.

Elaine Booth, Home Manager at HC-One Hamewith Lodge said:

“As the Kind Care Company, we always strive to support people to live their best lives in a welcoming and high-quality environment. We are delighted that the hard work of our kind carers has been recognised by the Care Inspectorate at their latest visit, and that we have been rated ‘Good’ across all categories of their report.

The feedback of our Residents and their loved ones is of paramount importance to us. We were therefore pleased to read the positive comments they had made to Inspectors, including ‘I’ve found all staff to be considerate, kind and very good at what they do’ and ‘excellent care, very friendly and communicative staff’.

We look forward to continuing to build on our recent positive feedback to deliver the very best care for our home and local community.”
