Lots as been going on at
Windsor Court, residential, nursing and residential dementia care home, and they wanted to share some of their fantastic stories.
Following a Residents meeting it was expressed that it would be great for Residents to have an area outside of their rooms to meet with visitors. The brief was for the place to be in the home and as safe as possible.
Staff got their heads together and decided on setting up a café area for Residents and their families to use on visits. The area allows the Residents to feel like they are in a café but in the comforts of their own home. It is great for some Residents who are unable to go on trips out due to mobility issues, they are still able to experience going for lunch or a cuppa in a café.
A ribbon cutting ceremony was held to open the café and Residents gathered round to see the unveiling.
The cafe has been a huge hit so far and Residents are able to book a one-hour slot for themselves and family members to use when visiting. Resident, Paula Caliskan commented, “A lovely change of scenery being in the café.”
Kim Quean, Wellbeing Coordinator, remarked, “We can’t wait for all the Residents to enjoy their time in the café with their families.”
Another fantastic piece of news from Windsor Court is they have recently received a bespoke interactive marine life tank for the dementia care unit. It is such an amazing piece of equipment.
Windsor Court staff and Residents would like to say a huge thank you to Tarik and Tugba, the family of Paula Caliskan for kindly donating this very special gift. Resident Stuart Pollard, said, “Oh wow this is beautiful!”
Julie Harrison, Care Home Manager, commented, “We are go grateful for this donation it is amazing!”
