Lothian House Residents visit Fishburn AirfieldResidents at Lothian House, residential and residential dementia care home, in Spennymoor, took a special visit to Fishburn Airfield.

George, a Resident at Lothian House, in his younger years was in the RAF doing his National Service and has a huge passion for planes.

The minibus was available at Lothian House for two days so Wellbeing Coordinator, Michelle, and David the bus driver decided to take Residents George, Brenda and Margie to Fishburn Airfield for a morning out.

George was absolutely over the moon, he said, “I have had such a great day out and it has brought back lots of great memories.”

Brenda and Margie, commented, “We don’t want to fly in the plane, it is held together with tape!”

However, the Residents were amazed that they got to see all the planes.

Jill Morton-Carr, Care Home Manager, remarked, “This is what well-being is all about, ensuring that our Residents can still enjoy previous hobbies and bring back special memories.”
