Today at
Oaklands in Essex, which offers residential and residential dementia care held a coffee morning with Macmillan Cancer Support.
Friday the 24th of September was a day of fun for the Residents and Colleagues at Oaklands. Slices of cake and cups of tea was had all round all for a good cause, raising awareness of cancer with Macmillan.
It was an eventful day, with Relatives coming into the home as well to support the cause. Both Residents and Relatives seemed to enjoy the day, especially when the home-made cakes made an appearance. Music was also playing throughout which some Residents said they really enjoyed, with some of them even singing along and dancing. Residents thanked the Wellbeing Coordinator afterwards for a lovely morning, they were all happy some of their family members could be there.
The idea behind this cake and coffee morning was to raise some money for the charity, and also just promoting general awareness for Cancer Support. The home managed to raise £70 towards the cause, which is pretty good going.
Rachel, the Home Manager said “I am really thankful that this was organised, it was nice to see everybody come together for a good cause”.
