Maintaining gardening interests with a trip out for The Beeches ResidentsOn 10th May, Residents at HC-One’s The Beeches care home, in Dukinfield, Tameside, enjoyed a trip to the garden centre to shop for plants for the home and enjoy a coffee together.

Audrey, Barbara and Doreen, who all live at the 32-bed residential care home travelled to Notcutts Garden Centre in Stockport to enjoy coffee, a breakfast treat and buy some plants for the front of the home. While at the garden centre, the ladies also enjoyed seeing the small animals and chatting to people, including children who were also enjoying looking at the animals.

Audrey remarked, “I enjoyed chatting to the children and showing them the rabbits, they made me smile.”

Doreen enjoyed her first trip out with Colleagues and said that she loved choosing plants for the home. She chatted to Colleagues about her garden back at home and all the different species of plants she had.  She showed Colleagues which ones were best to plant and what colours would go well together. She commented, “I have really enjoyed going out today, the garden centre was nice; I could have got all the plants in the shop.”

Barbara added, “It’s been lovely to be out looking round and enjoying a coffee.

Wellbeing Coordinator Sade agreed it was a great day out, she said, “Another lovely trip out with our ladies, it has been nice getting some plants for the home, especially when it was a hobby of Doreen’s.”
