Despite the typical British weather conditions, Residents at
Millbrook care home, in Stalybridge, Tameside, decided to visit the Notcutts Ashton Park garden centre.
Colleagues accompanied Residents living at the 46-bed residential care home, as they walked around the garden centre, and taking advantage of the amazing January sales. Residents liked to walk through the large inside garden centre looking at plants and accessories.
The group then went for a coffee at the café for a natter (something they all love to do!), to catch up with what is new and what had happened over the weekend. After a quick coffee they decided to take a look at the fish, and took the opportunity to feed them in their tanks.
After saying goodbye to both the fish and the lovely staff at the centre, they journeyed to the next stop, which was at The Queen's Arms pub in Audenshaw, where they had a look at a mural, which was created by a graffiti artist, of the late Queen on the pub wall. The mural was created as a permanent tribute in celebration of her life and character and Residents thoroughly admired it.
On the way back Resident Joan reminisced about her days when she used to play scrabble with her friends in Dukinfield, and how she used to drive every Thursday to meet them.
Claire Jones, Home Manager, said, “All the Residents arrived home with huge smiles and really enjoyed the day.”
“Everyone enjoyed the day, despite the weather, and it was all worth it, just to see the smile on the Residents’ faces as they enjoyed our time together.”
