Newton Aycliffe Resident Liaison Officer shortlisted for Great British Care Award and The Northern EKatie Heslop, Resident Liaison Officer, at HC-One’s St Clare’s Court care home in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham, a 58-bed residential and residential dementia care home, has been shortlisted for The Care Assessor/Planner Award Category at the Great British Care Awards for the North East region and Key Worker of the Year Award at The Northern Echo County Durham Together Awards.

The nomination for the award is in recognition of her hard work and kind care shown to Residents, Relatives and Colleagues as well as the dedication and passion Katie shows every day to ensure the people she supports receive the best quality care.

Katie visits Residents’ rooms each day and ensures they have everything they need, are comfortable and happy. She also communicates with families on a daily basis, giving them updates on their loved one’s day and asking if she can support in any way. 

She is always willing to support Residents and assist Colleagues to allow them to carry out other tasks. Katie makes Colleagues aware of Residents’ care plans ensuring they always receive the best possible care.

Home Administrator, Michelle Cummings, who nominated Katie for the awards, said:

“Katie is a real asset to the team at St Clares Court. It is such a great achievement for her to be shortlisted as a finalist for The Care Assessor Award and Key Worker of the Year Award.”

The Great British Care Awards consist of 23 awards, which cover a wide range of areas of the social care sector. The awards are a series of regional events throughout the UK and are a celebration of distinction across the care sector. The awards pay tribute to those who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their area of work. The regional awards ceremony for the North East region takes place at the Grand Hotel, Gosforth Park, in Newcastle on Thursday 10th November 2022 when the winners will be announced. Successful winners at the North East regional awards will progress to the national finals of the Great British Care Awards 2023, taking place on Friday 17th March 2023 at the ICC in Birmingham.

The Northern Echo County Durham Together Awards are taking place at the Ramside Hall Hotel, Durham on Thursday 8th December 2022, to celebrate those individuals who during the most challenging circumstances, have supported others, and shown great determination in their role.

In total 20 HC-One Colleagues have been shortlisted for the Great British Care Awards in the North East and two HC-One Colleagues have been shortlisted for the County Durham Together Awards.
