Penrith care home Resident makes a splashAvril, a Resident at Winters Park, residential and residential dementia care home in Penrith, gets back in the swimming pool after many years.

After many years of not being in a swimming pool Avril went back for her first swimming session.

Avril used to be a PE teacher and her favourite thing to teach and to do in her spare time was swimming. She loves any type of swimming, but backstroke is her favourite.

As part of an early 90th birthday present Home Manager, Kate, arranged for Avril to go swimming in a private pool along with Lucy, a Care Assistant.

She enjoyed the experience very much and hopes to go again soon. She said, “I still feel as fit as a fiddle at 90!”

Kate Lewis, Care Home Manager, commented, “It was a privilege to help make Avril’s wish come true.”
