Residents at Highgate care home try more TikTok gamesResidents at Highgate, nursing, and nursing dementia care home, in Uddingston, are always playing fun games, and getting inspiration from TikTok.

Janine, Wellbeing Coordinator, has been searching TikTok for more games and activities for the Residents to do and she has created a game called ‘chip, putt, lob’.

Residents used plastic balls and were throwing them into the multi chipping net which Janine found in her cupboard at home. You can move the net around for different holes to throw the balls in. The net encouraged other Residents to used other types of goals, and they found using an upside-down cone worked really well.

Janine is always encouraging the Residents to get moving and work all their muscles by playing these games. Janine has found moving more, in general, can help to boost muscle strength, core strength and enhanced motor skills for the Residents. In addition, it encourages better independence, and this can contribute to improved overall physical healing.

Lots of Residents joined in with the games and Resident who don’t usually take part thought the game was great and were asking to take part in more games which are played.

George, one of the new Residents at Highgate, was encouraging others to get involved and to try throwing the balls in the net or cone.

Janine always has lots of fun creating these games for the Residents, she remarked, “I try to encourage all Residents to take part, some Residents enjoyed sitting back and watching before having a go themselves.”
