Residents over the moon as therapy dog returns to Bridport care homeCharlie the Pets as Therapy (PAT) dog has recently returned to St James’ Park care home, in Bradpole, Bridport, and Residents were delighted to see him again, giving him lots of treats, cuddles and pats!

Due to the backlog in yearly assessments, which PAT dogs need to undertake in order to continue their role, it has been a while since Residents at the 31-bed residential and nursing care home have been able to enjoy Charlie’s company.

On 21st April, the four-legged friend returned and enjoyed the company of 19 Residents at the home. St James’ Park Residents absolutely love it when animals visit, and they are always so happy with the companionship.

Alison, who is Charlie’s owner and accompanies him on the visits, said “Charlie passed all his assessments with flying colours and is so happy to see everyone again!”

Part of the assessment involved visiting a very noisy, busy cafĂ© and tolerating loud bangs nearby from trays being dropped or banned on the table. Charlie did not bat an eye lid.

Mihaela Barbulescu, Care Home Manager, remarked, “Well done Charlie on passing all your exams, we all missed you!”
