Richmond House Residents celebrate PRIDE this August34 Residents from Richmond House care home were taken on a trip to the local marina to celebrate the town’s PRIDE event this year.

Wheelchairs were decorated with various flowers and the Residents all wore a bright coloured Lei for the fun occasion.

All Colleagues on shift and other staff volunteered on their days off to make this special day happen.

Staff accompanied Residents up to the marina in their wheelchairs, making various trips to and from the home. Roy Kinglsey, Maintenance Operative and Minibus Driver, also made a few trips for the Residents too taking them to and from the marina from Richmond House.

Some family members also joined the group at the marina for a drink and an ice lolly. Those involved sat at the marina having a chat, looking at the boats, feeding the ducks and swans, and enjoying the lovely summers day.

Everyone enjoyed being able to share the experience with each other. One of the Residents said, “It has been lovely for us all to get out at the same time.”

Another Resident added, “It’s lovely here it has changed a lot since the last time I came!”

Lorraine Scholey, Care Home Manager, commented, “It was amazing, credit to all the staff who helped, I know you were all exhausted so a big thank you and well done.”
