Roby House introduces therapy dollsAt Roby House residential and nursing care home, in Huyton, Colleagues are always trying to find new and creative ways of expanding activities for Residents and to deliver a person-centred approach, and the best possible care. Therefore, therapy dolls were recently introduced into the home, and the response has been astounding.

Introduced by Home Manager, Sarah Gashi and Wellbeing Coordinator, Charles Buttle, everyone has immediately been able to see the benefits of therapy dolls first-hand. Residents were thrilled when introduced to their own doll and have been making bonds with them, providing Resident comfort and companionship.

One of the Residents involved commented, “I enjoyed the company!”

Dorothy Griffiths (pictured) who lives at Roby House has named her doll Juliet, who has officially become a member of the Roby House Family!

Staff have been encouraged to join in with this new part of the home’s activities programme and Care Assistant Rebecca Holding brought in a doll to share with Residents; and everyone loved it.

Charles commented, “Our dolls have been extremely beneficial in social stimulation for our Residents. They have provided both comfort and companionship.”

“We plan to continue and develop this new idea for our activities programme; gifting Residents their own doll to make new and wonderful memories with.”

Sarah Gashi, Home Manager, remarked, “I have been so thrilled to see the positive influence our therapy dolls have had in the home. Not only have our Residents found comfort in them but our whole home has embraced these dolls as a part of our family."
