Spring activities from Brompton HouseNo one is short of activities at HC-One’s Brompton House residential and nursing care home, in the village of Broadway, as Residents have been taking part in all sorts of exciting pursuits, including watching chicks hatch and even taking part in an exercise class.

On 7th April, chick eggs arrived from 'Living Eggs' at Brompton House and were kept warm in a private incubator for seven days. They started hatching just in time for the Easter celebrations at the home.

Sue, who lives at Brompton House, remarked, “'They are so fluffy and cute.”

While holding a chick, it fell asleep on Resident Barbara’s chest, she said, “I think she likes me”

All Residents and Colleagues had been patiently waiting for the wonderful experience for the 'eggs' to hatch.  Overall, they had nine chicks hatch and the Residents loved watching them playing.

Some of the residents were excited to hold them and a few didn't want to give them back either!

Overall, everyone had an 'Egg-cellent' week spending time with the bundle of fluff during many handling sessions at the home.

Tessa Baird, Wellbeing Coordinator, commented, “It was a great experience for both the Residents and staff to watch the eggs to hatch.”

“There were lots of fun handling sessions over the Easter week and we were sad to see them go to their new homes.”

Following on, on 12th May It was a pleasure to welcome Exercise Instructor Georgina to Brompton House, for Residents to enjoy doing some gentle exercises.

Those involved were feeling energised while doing the gentle exercise to music. The Residents used soft, small stress balls and exercise bands, for some stretches, knee movements and leg lifts.

Mike, Sue and Mary, who are Residents at the home, enjoyed the boxing and resistance training.

John, who is also a Resident, said, “I would like to do it again.”

Jinu Thomas, Care Home Manager, said, “We are looking forward to continuing to develop these lovely positive activities at Brompton House.”
