VE Day celebrations at Nottingham care homeAt Nottingham’s Silverwood care home, which provides residential, nursing and dementia care, Residents have been celebrating Victory in Europe Day.

On Friday the 6th of May, Silverwood welcomed three entertainers into the home for a fun filled afternoon of singing and dancing celebrating VE Day. Kev and Marie, two local entertainers performed on the East Lodge unit and Johnny Victory on the West Lodge unit.

Most Colleagues and Residents got very involved with the celebrations and really enjoying the atmosphere that the event brought with it. Residents said that they loved singing and dancing along with the entertainers but enjoyed reminiscing and remembering the second World War the most.

Colleagues commented that the most special part of the day was seeing all of the Residents interacting with each other and seeing them fully enjoying themselves. Mrs. Leatherland, a Resident at Silverwood commented, “It’s been a fantastic afternoon, I hope we do it again” whilst another Resident mentioned how the music made her remember her father, who loved that type of music.

Debra, the Home Manager went on to say, “It was such a wonderful event, seeing the Residents getting involved and enjoying time together was lovely”.
