Wakefield Head Chef wins The Care Home Cook/Chef Award at the York and Humberside Region of the GreaAlex Tomlinson-Wood, Head Chef at HC-One’s Carr Gate Care Home in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, a 59-bed residential, nursing and residential dementia care home, was crowned the winner of The Care Home Cook/Chef Award at the York and Humberside Region of the Great British Care Awards 2022.

The award ceremony took place at the Leeds Armouries in Leeds on Friday 11th November. The awards recognise excellence across the sector and pay tribute to those who have gone above and beyond to help others.

Alex is a dedicated, hard-working and kind member of the team at Carr Gate Care Home. He takes the time to speak to Residents to understand their likes and dislikes to cater for their needs and provide delicious nutritious food. Alex helps to serve meals and speaks to the Residents, always asking for their feedback. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Alex and he is a great support to all the Residents living at the home.

Alex Tomlinson-Wood, Head Chef at Carr Gate Care Home, said:

Alex and the other winners of the regional Great British Care Awards progress to the National Finals of the Great British Care Awards, taking place on the 17th March 2023 at the ICC in Birmingham.
