Wigan Residents have a rocking Christmas with pantomime and partyResidents have had a great Christmas at Rosebridge Court care home, in Hindley, Wigan, with parties and pantomimes galore!

On 17th December, Colleagues at the 46-bed nursing dementia care home booked the ‘North East Production Team’ to stage a production of the classic ‘Oliver’ for their Christmas Panto.

Most of the Residents attended and participated, and one of the home’s support workers, Alison, agreed to play the part of Mrs Bumble! Much to everyone’s delight

There were the usual songs which everyone knew and sang along with, such as, ‘I’d do anything’, ‘Consider yourself’ and ‘Food glorious food’, and there was plenty of audience interactions too, with magic tricks from the fictional character Fagin.

There was laughter, dancing, boos, cheers and lots of shouting. Everyone had a good time and to finish off they sang some well-known Christmas carols.

One of the Residents commented, “I thoroughly enjoyed it.”

Another added, “It was really funny.”

Sarah Cunliffe, Home Administrator, said, “I heard lots of stories about what a wonderful time all the Residents had at the pantomime. A great day was had by all.”

Following on, the home hosted their own Christmas party on 20th December. A full day was spent helping everyone to get into the spirit, with a wonderful buffet made by the home’s kitchen team and Colleagues on duty made an effort to ‘dress to impress’, playing the parts of Santa, Frosty the Snowman and a Christmas unicorn.

There was entertainment in the afternoon from a live singer, with everyone joining in with the singing and dancing along. There were some well-known sing-along songs too, which everyone knew such as, ‘Penny Arcade’, ‘Amarillo’, and ‘Saturday night at the movies’.

Some of the Residents wore their Christmas jumpers and the entertainment was such a success that it has been booked again for the new year, at the Residents’ request.

Sarah said, “What an absolutely wonderful day. All the Residents were dancing and singing all day long. It was a perfect day.”
