Mossdale Residence care home, in Burnholme, York, officially opened its new residential care community on Wednesday 12th October and is preparing to welcome new Residents this Autumn.
Owned by HC-One, the 80-bed residential, nursing and dementia care home, which officially opened in January 2021, was delighted to open their doors to the local community this month where a ribbon cutting ceremony took place to introduce the new Minster Community, which will be offering residential care.
Betty Atkinson, who lives at Mossdale Residence and was the second Resident to move into the luxury hotel-style home, unveiled the new unit by cutting the ribbon in front of an audience of Colleagues, fellow Residents and Visitors and there was a huge celebration all round!
Throughout the day which was attended by many people from the local community, visitors were invited for a tour of the amazing facilities the home had to offer, including the premium ensuite patio rooms, modern living areas and hotel style services. There was also an opportunity to meet Home Manager Julie Banks.
Residents, Colleagues and visitors were treated to some magical entertainment from local magician Rod Williams. He shocked everyone with his fantastic illusions and card tricks. DJ, Julian Song, took time out of his day job at a Night Care Assistant at Mossdale Residence, to play some of the Residents favourite music. A favourite amongst Residents was ‘We Will Rock You’, which was a special request. The kitchen team baked some delicious cakes and refreshments on offer for all to enjoy and get a ‘taste’ of what life is like at Mossdale Residence.
The open event was also a great opportunity for Colleagues to celebrate, as they were delighted to recently receive their glowing CQC (Care Quality Commission) report. In August the home received a rating of ‘Good’ in all areas, demonstrating that the home is providing high standards of care for Residents, demonstrating that the home is Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsible, and Well-Led.
