HC-One’s Godden Lodge care home in Benfleet, Essex welcomed families, carers, and members of the local community to a Dementia Awareness Workshop designed to provide practical knowledge and support for people living with dementia.
The interactive session was led by Amy Pepper, Dementia Care Manager at HC-One. The workshop explored the different types of dementia, offered insight into how best to care for individuals, and shared communication techniques that can make a positive difference in daily life.
Alongside learning, guests enjoyed tea, coffee, and a selection of cakes, providing the opportunity to connect with one another, share experiences, and build a sense of community support. Feedback from the event was overwhelmingly positive, with many attendees already looking forward to Part Two of the workshop, scheduled for November.
Lewis Chester, Home Manager at Godden Lodge, said:
“It was fantastic to see so many carers and relatives engaging in the workshop. We are passionate about equipping families and our local community with the knowledge and skills to better understand dementia, and we’re excited to continue this journey in November.
“At Godden Lodge, we are committed to creating a supportive environment not just for our residents, but for their loved ones and the wider community too. Workshops like this help bring people together and build confidence in caring for those living with dementia.”
The Dementia Awareness Workshop reflects HC-One’s wider commitment to raising understanding of dementia, supporting families, and creating compassionate communities. Across its homes in England, Scotland and Wales, HC-One provides personalised dementia care, ensuring residents feel safe, valued, and cared for with kindness at every stage of the dementia journey.
The team at Godden Lodge looks forward to welcoming attendees back later this year for the continuation of this important initiative.
