Residents and colleagues at HC-One’s Market Lavington Care Home near Devizes, Wiltshire, came together for a splendid afternoon of celebration in honour of His Majesty The King’s official birthday, traditionally marked in June with the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony.
Although King Charles III’s actual birthday falls on 14 November, his official birthday is celebrated on the second Saturday of June, a tradition that dates back more than 260 years. At Market Lavington, the occasion was embraced in style with an afternoon tea fit for royalty.
The home was adorned with Union Jack flags and patriotic decorations, setting the scene for a memorable gathering. Residents enjoyed freshly baked scones from the home’s talented kitchen team, topped with an assortment of juicy blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries.
Laughter filled the air as residents and colleagues took part in a light-hearted game of Pin the Crown on the King.
Jodie Perryman, Senior Activities Coordinator at HC-One’s Market Lavington Care Home said:
“We all had such a giggle seeing everyone’s blindfolded attempts. It was a truly joyful celebration that brought everyone together.
“The event is part of our ongoing commitment to creating engaging and meaningful moments for our residents. The home regularly organises themed activities and celebrations that promote wellbeing, community spirit, and fun.”
