A ‘Wicked’ Day Out for Launton Grange Resident Jo!

Residents and team members at HC-One’s Launton Grange Care Home in Bicester are still buzzing with excitement after a truly magical trip to London for one very special resident.

This year, much-loved resident Josephine Hinton (Jo) developed a real passion for the hit musical Wicked, watching the film version almost every day. Seeing how much joy it brought her, Unit Manager Jodi Bowler decided to make Jo’s favourite story come to life, arranging a trip to see the show live in London, with the help of Jo’s daughter, Lynne.

On Wednesday 12th November, Jo and Jodi boarded the train to the capital for what turned out to be an unforgettable day. The pair enjoyed exploring London, sharing laughs, a glass or two of wine, and even a cheeky McDonald’s before taking their seats at the Apollo Victoria Theatre to watch Wicked.

Jo said:

“The show was marvellous, and it was wonderful of Jodi to take me. I don’t know how I can repay her, can we do it again?!”

The team at Launton Grange are thrilled that Jo’s dream came true and proud of the heartfelt care and dedication shown by colleagues like Jodi, who go above and beyond to create meaningful memories for residents.

Reflecting on the experience, Jodi Bowler, Unit Manager, shared:

“Me and Jo have an amazing friendship, and it meant so much to be able to do this for her. I have a passion for working with those who are on their dementia journey. I know Jo may not always remember our trip, but she will remember the feelings that came with it, and that’s something I’m very proud of.”
